World Class Treatment In Your Hometown

Head & Neck Cancer

UTHSC Division of Head and Neck Surgery:

The field of head and neck surgery encompasses the most interesting and complex anatomy in the body. The structures of our head and neck are responsible for how we appear, interact with others and our environment, and how we eat. When a problem develops with one of these structures, it can have a dramatic impact on our appearance, as well as our ability to breathe, eat, and communicate.

Our division of Head and Neck Surgery specializes in the treatment of benign and cancerous conditions of the head and neck. We have expertise in removing the abnormal lesions and, if necessary, performing reconstructive surgery. Our goal is to treat the tumor or condition completely, while preserving as much function as possible in order to maximize quality of life for our patients. We utilize state-of-the-art technology and techniques including transoral robotic surgery, transoral laser microsurgery, minimally invasive approaches, and microvascular reconstructive surgery.

We provide a multi-disciplinary approach to treating cancer and meet regularly with our team of speech pathologists, radiation oncologists, medical oncologists, radiologists, and pathologists to provide a comprehensive treatment plan for each individual patient.
