UTHSC Introduces Dr. Anas Eid as Chief of the Division of Facial Plastic Surgery & Associate Program Director

The University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery department is thrilled to introduce Dr. Anas Eid the Chief of the Division of Facial Plastic Surgery and the new Associate Program Director for the Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery residency program.

Dr. Eid, a renowned facial plastic surgeon, brings an extensive array of expertise and knowledge to his new roles. Dr. Eid has an impressive academic background, including a residency in Otolaryngology/Facial Plastic Surgery at UTHSC, a fellowship in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Iowa, and Plastic & Reconstructive Microsurgery at Baptist Memorial Healthcare and St. Jude Children’s Hospital. His specialized training in Microsurgery and Facial Plastic Surgery distinguishes him in his field.

Providing a comprehensive scope of facial plastic and reconstructive surgery services, Dr. Eid’s clinical specialties encompass reconstructive surgery for complex defects in head and neck cancer surgery, facial reconstruction for Moh’s & skin cancer surgery, treatment of craniofacial anomalies such as cleft lip and palate deformities, facial trauma, and aesthetic facial plastic surgery. Dr. Eid also co-directs the multidisciplinary UT craniomaxillofacial trauma services and leads the multidisciplinary craniomaxillofacial complex case conferences.

Dr. Eid is one of a select group of surgeons in the country specializing in aesthetic & functional facial reconstruction and surgical treatment for head and neck lymphedema. His innovative research interests include 3D prefabrication of flaps in reconstructive surgery, lymphedema of the head and neck, aesthetic facial outcomes in head and neck reconstruction, soft tissue lymphatic mapping, chimeric flaps, prefabrication of flaps, and 3D virtual surgical planning.

In addition to his clinical and research achievements, Dr. Eid has significantly contributed to the academic field with numerous peer-reviewed publications and has authored multiple textbook chapters in facial plastic surgery and patient safety. His dedication to patient safety and healthcare access is demonstrated through his global initiatives with the World Health Organization and his previous involvement with the United Nations. We are excited to have Dr. Eid leading our Facial Plastic Surgery Division and residency program. We anticipate the continued enhancement and growth of our services under his expert guidance and leadership.
