Meet Shabonna

Shabonna is a thirteen year-old girl from Uzbekistan with a life-threatening vascular anomaly: a mass of veins under her face that could grow into her brain, cause a stroke, and possibly lead to death. When Memphis businessman and philanthropist Dan Patterson encountered. her at an orphanage in Uzbekistan, he knew he had to help.

World Class Treatment: Our Vascular Anomalies Clinic

With the help of GoFundMe donations from around the world, Shabonna arrived in Memphis and began treatment at Le Bonheur.

Dr. Anthony Sheyn, along with the other specialists at our Vascular Anomalies clinic, performed three successful surgeries. Not only were they able to diagnose the issue and navigate these tricky, life-saving procedures, they believe Shabonna’s swelling will go down in the coming weeks.

Thanks to the expertise of our Dream Team, Shabonna can be a happy, healthy teenager again!
